2020年版「史上最も偉大なアルバムTOP500」に新たな時代を感じた

ローリング・ストーン誌が2012年以来の「史上最も偉大なアルバムTOP500」を発表した。2012年のは2003年に発表したリストの改訂版というから、およそ17年ぶりの更新みたいなものだろうか。このチャートにはちょっと驚いたね。

500枚並べると長いので、とりあえず上位50枚を書き出す。

どうですか？パッと見て違和感ありませんか？俺は見た瞬間にびっくりしたね。だってこういうチャートの1位には決まってあのアルバムが鎮座していたじゃないですか。そう、ビートルズの『サージェント・ペパーズ』ですよ。2020年において、ついにビートルズに対する神のような扱いが終わったというか、時代が変わったなと思ったのですよ。

ちなみに『サージェント・ペパーズ』は2020年版ではなんと24位！10位以内にも入らないという有様。ビートルズに限って言うと、ほとんどのアルバムが評価が下がっている。それなのに『ペット・サウンズ』が2003年版に続いて2位というのはどういうことなんだろうね。

今回のトップ500は2000年代のアルバムまでが対象なのかな、ヒップ・ホップやR&B（90年以降のね）が結構目立つのも特徴だし、1位がこれまでも上位に位置していたマーヴィン・ゲイの『ホワッツ・ゴーイン・オン』というのも今の時代だからこそというものを感じる。要は時代がやっとこのアルバムに追いついたんだなと。

ローリング・ストーン誌って白人至上主義っぽいイメージがあったから（本当に勝手に俺がそう思っていただけで、実際はわからん）、この2020年版「史上最も偉大なアルバムTOP500」はとても面白いなと思った。
